Illinois is one state that mandates continuing education (CE) for its licensees during each two-year licensing period. These courses keep real estate professionals current on topics such as ethics, agency, legal issues, license law, antitrust and finance.
Real Estate Broker Licensees renewal deadline is April 30, 2014. Broker licensees must complete 12 hours of CE, a minimum of six hours of Core (one Core A, one Core B) and six hours Elective. CE must be completed in the pre-renewal cycle of May 1, 2012 through April 30, 2014. If you were licensed 90 days prior to the renewal deadline you will be issued a license with the renewal deadline of the next cycle thereby allowing you an additional 2 years to complete your CE. The Illinois Association of REALTORS® Licensing and Training Center has classroom, online and home study options available to complete this training.
