Illinois Constitutional Amendment on The Ballot Illinois residents will be asked to vote on a proposed amendment to the Illinois Constitution requiring government bodies to have a three-fifths vote (instead of a simple majority) to increase benefits under any public pension or retirement system. The proposed amendment also would require a two-thirds vote for lawmakers to override a governor’s veto or to accept a governor’s changes in a rewrite of pension increase legislation. NAR Call for Action: Keep Housing Recovery on Track Take action now and tell Congress to extend the Mortgage Forgiveness Tax Relief that exempts homeowners from tax penalties on money a mortgage lender forgives as a result of a loan modification, short sale, or foreclosure, according to NAR. Manny Flores appointed to lead IDFPR Gov. Pat Quinn has picked Manuel (Manny) Flores to serve as Secretary of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Flores most recently served as director for the Division of Banking at IDFPR.
Consumer Confidence Climbed in October The Consumer Confidence Index rose to 72.2 in October, hitting the highest level in four years, due in part to an improving job market, according to the latest survey by The Conference Board.
