REALTOR® Advocacy on Vacant Property Initiatives
IAR Advocacy has been dealing with an onslaught of proposed initiatives, at the state and local levels, aimed at regulating vacant properties. IAR Assistant Director of Advocacy and Local Issues Mike Scobey writes of recent efforts in Cook County for the IARbuzz blog. A vacant property team created by the city of Fairview Heights is also being monitored by IAR Governmental Affairs in the metro east area of the state.

FHA Extends Anti-Flipping Waiver Through 2012
FHA is extending its temporary waiver of the anti-flipping regulations through Dec. 31, 2012, in an effort to stabilize home values and improve conditions in communities experiencing high foreclosure activity, NAR reports.

Pending Home Sales Rise in November
The Pending Home Sales Index increased to 100.1 in November, up 7.3 percent from October and 5.9 percent above November 2010 when it stood at 94.5, according to NAR. Pending home sales reached the highest level in 19 months.

Case-Shiller: October Home Prices in Many U.S. Metros Drop
Month-over-month prices dropped in 19 of 20 cities covered by the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices. In the S&P blog HousingViews.com, David Blitzer, chairman of the index committee of the S&P Indices, compares the highs and lows of various metro areas, including Chicago.
