Reprieve for Rural Housing Programs
More than 900 communities nationwide will NOT lose access to rural housing programs this fall, as expected, NAR reports. The Office of Rural Development of the Department of Agriculture has delayed until March 27, 2013, implementation of 2010 Census data and a definition of "rural" that would have rendered 900 communities in 48 states ineligible for affordable mortgage financing for lower-income rural families. Mortgage Rates Break New Record Low
It’s a new all-time record low for fixed mortgage rates with 30-year, fixed mortgages averaging 3.40 percent and 15-year, fixed mortgages averaging 2.73 percent, according to Freddie Mac.

Pending Home Sales Dip in August: Higher Than Year Ago
Pending home sales fell 2.6 percent in August compared to July but were 10.7 percent above August 2011, according to NAR's Pending Home Sales Index.
