Phil Chiles of Springfield Installed as President-Elect
of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®

REALTOR® Phil Chiles, ABR, CRS, GRI, SRES of Springfield has been installed as the 2013 President-Elect of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®.  He is a Broker-Associate with the Real Estate Group in Springfield.

A past president of the Capital Area Association of REALTORS®, he served his local association on numerous committees including leading its Executive, Community Service, Governmental Affairs committees, and served as a member of the Multiple Listing Service and REALTOR®/Developer committees.

On a statewide level, Chiles has served as chairman of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®’ Public Policy and Government Affairs Member Involvement Group and as a member of the Strategic Planning and Executive committees, REALTORS® Political Involvement Committee, GSE Reform Task Force and Education Rules Task Force. He received an IAR Presidential Medallion for his contributions to the State Association in 2008. Chiles is a National Association of REALTORS® Federal Political Coordinator Team Member for Congressman Aaron Schock.

Chiles was named this year to represent REALTORS® on the Radon Resistant Building Codes Task Force, a panel that oversees the implementation of a new Illinois law governing mitigation of the potentially cancer-causing gas.

Chiles has attained the designations of Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI).

In 2013, Chiles will serve as chair of the IAR Strategic Planning Committee and vice-chair of the Leadership and Executive Committees and NAR Political Advisory Working Group.

On a national level, Chiles serves on the NAR Board of Directors and is a member of the State and Local Issues Committee.

On the community level he is very active in Habitat for Humanity and has participated in the construction of more than a dozen Habitat builds including trips leading Illinois REALTORS® in helping to rebuild Hurricane Katrina-damaged areas in Mobile, Ala., coastal Mississippi and New Orleans.

Chiles is a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps. He is a Capital Township Trustee and has served as a commissioner for the Sangamon County Historic Preservation Committee and as a board member for Contact Ministries and Sangamon County Habitat for Humanity. He is the co-owner of Levi Home Construction, Inc.

Chiles and his wife Peggy reside in Springfield. They are the parents of three grown children.

Installation ceremonies were conducted at the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Fall Conference and Expo on Oct. 3 at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Ill. Other 2013 officers installed were President Michael D. Oldenettel, CRS, GRI, Managing Broker-Owner of RE/MAX Results Plus, Inc. in Jacksonville and Treasurer Jim Kinney, CRB, CRS, GRI, Vice President of Luxury Home Sales for Baird & Warner in Chicago.

The Illinois Association of REALTORS® is a voluntary trade association whose 41,000 members are engaged in all facets of the real estate industry.  In addition to serving the professional needs of its members, the Illinois Association of REALTORS® works to protect the rights of private property owners in the state by recommending and promoting legislation which safeguards and advances the interest of real property ownership.
