Michael Onorato of Coal City Installed as President of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®
REALTOR® Michael Onorato, GRI, of Coal City has been installed as the 2010 President of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®. Active in real estate for 27 years, Onorato is broker-owner of Onorato Real Estate serving Grundy County and southern Will County.
He is a past president of the Three Rivers Association of REALTORS®, where he was honored as the association’s REALTOR® of the Year in 2007. Onorato has been active in the local association, serving on the Board of Directors for 12 years. He has served on various local committees including the Nominating, Finance, Professional Standards and Grievance committees.
On the statewide level, Onorato has been active in advocating for property rights and the real estate industry. He has served on the IAR Board of Directors and chaired the Strategic Planning Committee, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee Trustees and the Finance Committee.
He has lent his expertise to many IAR committees including the Executive, Compensation Review and Leadership committees as well as the Political Fundraising Working Group and Public Policy/Governmental Affairs Member Involvement Group.
In 2010, Onorato will serve as chair of the IAR Executive and Leadership committees as well as IAR’s National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Political Advisory Working Group.
Onorato has served on the National Association of REALTORS® State and Local Issues Committee, Business Issues Committee and the NAR Board of Directors.
Onorato is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He resides in Coal City.
Installation ceremonies were conducted at the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Convention on September 17 at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center in Lombard, Illinois. Other 2010 officers installed were President-elect Sheryl Grider of East Peoria and Treasurer Loretta Alonzo of Romeoville.
The Illinois Association of REALTORS® is a voluntary trade association whose 50,000 members are engaged in all facets of the real estate industry. In addition to serving the professional needs of its members, the Illinois Association of REALTORS® works to protect the rights of private property owners in the state by recommending and promoting legislation which safeguards and advances the interest of real property ownership.
