Loretta Alonzo of Romeoville Installed as Treasurer of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®
REALTOR® Loretta Alonzo, CRB, GRI, of Romeoville has been installed as the 2010 Treasurer of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®. Active in real estate for 33 years, Alonzo is the Broker/Owner of Century 21 Alonzo & Associates in La Grange Park.
She is a two-term past president of the West Towns Board of REALTORS® and has been honored as its REALTOR® of the Year six times, in 1987, 1990, 1994, 2000, 2004 and again in 2008. Alonzo has a long history of participation with the local association, serving on the Board of Directors and as the chair of the Audit, Budget/Finance, MLS, Nominating and Installation Dinner committees.
On the statewide level, Alonzo has chaired a variety of Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) committees including the Technology Working Group, Community & Public Relations and the Professional Development Member Involvement Group.
Alonzo has lent her expertise to many other IAR committees including Strategic Planning, Executive and Jurisdiction. She has also served on the Business Issues/License Law Working Group, the Equal Opportunity Working Group and the Education Working Group. She was president of the Real Estate Education Foundation in 2002 and received IAR’s Distinguished Service Award in 2006.
In 2010, Alonzo will serve as chair of the Finance Committee, vice-chair of the Strategic Planning Committee and as a member of the IAR Leadership Committee, Executive Committee and IAR Plaza, Inc. She will also serve as treasurer of the Issues Mobilization Political Action Committee and on the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Political Advisory Working Group.
For the National Association of REALTORS®, Alonzo has served on the NAR Board of Directors, as well as a member of the Federal Housing Policy Committee and the Membership Policy and Board Jurisdiction Committee.
Alonzo is a licensed Illinois continuing education instructor and in 1987 was named Woman of the Year by the Mexican-American Business & Professional Women’s Club. She is a past president of the Multiple Listing Service of Northern Illinois as well as the past president of the West Suburban Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®.
Installation ceremonies were conducted at the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Convention on September 17 at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center in Lombard, Illinois. Other 2010 officers installed were President Michael Onorato of Coal City and President-Elect Sheryl Grider of East Peoria.
The Illinois Association of REALTORS® is a voluntary trade association whose 50,000 members are engaged in all facets of the real estate industry. In addition to serving the professional needs of its members, the Illinois Association of REALTORS® works to protect the rights of private property owners in the state by recommending and promoting legislation which safeguards and advances the interest of real property ownership.
