REALTOR® Judy Stowe Receives Illinois Association of REALTORS® Distinguished Service Award

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Judy Stowe, CIPS, CRB, a broker with Baird & Warner in Glen Ellyn, was named a recipient of the Illinois Association of REALTORS® 2011 Distinguished Service Award. The award honors individuals who have provided outstanding contributions and service to the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) and their local communities. Stowe received the award October 11 at the IAR Business Meetings in St. Charles.

Stowe began her real estate career in 1988. She has been actively involved in the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® (formerly the REALTOR® Association of West/South Suburban Chicagoland). She served as president of the local association in 2002.

For more than a decade, Stowe has been an active member of the Illinois Association of REALTORS® with leadership roles as chair of the Jurisdiction Committee, REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Trustees and the International Working Group. She has been a dedicated member of the IAR Economic Development, Convention and Political Fundraising working groups and is a Sterling “R” contributor to the REALTORS® Political Action Committee.

At the state and national REALTOR® association level, Stowe has long recognized the importance of international real estate, serving on IAR’s International Working Group since it started in 2004. Earning her Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation, Stowe has also served on the National Association of REALTORS® CIPS Council since 2004.

A resident of Glen Ellyn, Stowe is just as dedicated to giving back to her community. She has served on the board of Habitat for Humanity of Illinois, the Marianjoy Rehabilitation Center Auxiliary Board and received the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002. Her most far-reaching contributions have been to the Marillac House on the west side of Chicago and Griffin Center in East St. Louis. For more than 30 years she has chaired a benefit that raises money and provides toys for 1,700 children at the centers each Christmas. She also is involved in the “Easter Feast” benefit raising money for the homeless.

Stowe’s charity work earned her the Baird & Warner Good Will Award in 1991 and again in 2002 as a charter member of Baird & Warner’s Good Will Network.

Also receiving the 2011 IAR Distinguished Service Award was REALTOR® Max Mitchell, a broker with RE/MAX Realty Associates in Champaign.
