IAR Offers Interactive Licensing Webinars 

Complete the courses you need without leaving home. The IAR Licensing & Training Center is revolutionizing its education programs by offering an alternative classroom format that will appeal to students who want the convenience of learning at their own home or office yet want the interactive experience of a webinar. The 15-hour interactive courses will complete the training for the pre-license Broker licensing course, the post-license Broker course and the Managing Broker pre-license course. Regardless of where you completed your initial pre-license training, you may take the interactive webinar courses to prepare you for the state exam if the course you completed requires taking that exam. The 6-hour Instructor Development course combined with our 6-hour DVD program will prepare instructor hopefuls for their licensing requirement for pre-license instructor, or continuing education instructor.

Commercial Outlook Brightens, But Financing Still a Challenge

More Reports of Rental "Scraping" Scams

More Illinois REALTORS® are spreading the word about rental property scams. REALTOR® Karen Robertson, president-elect of the Three Rivers Association of REALTORS®, spoke to the Joliet Herald-News about rental scams in her community. The IAR Legal Center recently put out information about Craigslist rental scams.

NAR: Be Aware of Patent Infringement Letters

NAR has received reports from members (including some in Illinois) who have received demand letters from patent trolls claiming violations of a patent for emailing scanned documents. The letters then demand the companies pay a $900-$1,200 license fee per employee. Listen to this NAR podcast with tips and information on this issue.

Successful Legislative Session Ends

U.S. Pending Home Sales Up in April

Home contract activity is at its highest level since April 2010, right before the homebuyer tax credit deadline, NAR reports. The Pending Home Sales Index rose 0.3 percent in April compared to March and was 10.3 percent higher than a year ago. Gains were even higher in the Midwest, rising 3.2 percent compared to March and 15.1 percent from a year ago.

REALTOR® Confidence Index Rises in April

REALTORS® are growing more confident in the recovering real estate market with 95 percent expecting constant or higher prices in the next 12 months.
