IAR Releases 2013 Annual Report

Schedule Changes for Springfield Habitat Build

If you are volunteering for IAR's Habitat for Humanity build in Springfield, be aware that dates for the remainder of the project have changed as subcontractors work to finish their portions of the project. New work datesare: July 7-12 for painting, July 14-18 for flooring and July 28-30 for general cleanup.Register for the Springfield build or the upcoming project in Aurora. #PowerofR

NAR: REALTORS® Applaud U.S. House Passage of Mortgage Choice Act

The U.S. House passed legislation yesterday redefining the Ability-to-Repay rules that would put a 3 percent cap on points and fees for Qualified Mortgages. It now heads to the U.S. Senate. Read a statement from NAR President Steve Brown.

FHFA Seeks Comments on Mortgage Guarantee Fees

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) is looking for comments on how lender guarantee fees, or G-fees, are set on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae mortgage loans and the impact raising those fees will have on consumer credit availability. Click here to submit your comment by Aug. 4.

Win for Commercial REALTORS® in Lake County

In another win for REALTOR® advocacy, the village of Bannockburn abandoned plans for a lease tax on storage rental units after the North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS® raised concerns about the negative impact on commercial property owners. The number of non-investment home buyers purchasing with cash rose to record highs — 29 percent — in the first quarter of this year and Baby Boomers led the pack,according to NAR.
