U.S. Pending Home Sales Fall in December

Harsh winter weather may have prompted some to put off home shopping as the Pending Home Sales Index fell 8.7 percent in December compared to November. NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun said home prices rising faster than people's incomes and limited housing inventories are to blame.

FHA Now Accepting E-Signatures

The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) is now allowing its lenders to accept electronic signatures on mortgage loan documents. Read more including the FHA mortgagee letter.

REEF Academic Scholarship Deadline is April 1

Applications for the Real Estate Educational Foundation's (REEF) Academic scholarships must be submitted by April 1, 2014. Since 2000, REEF has awarded scholarships totaling over $412,300 to talented college students and real estate professionals. Learn more about these and other REEF scholarships at www.ilreef.org.

NAR: Cash Used in 32 Percent of Residential Sales

Cash is still king for 32 percent of homebuyers and it is particularly popular with investors and international buyers, 70 percent of whom bought with cash in December, according to NAR's latest REALTORS® Confidence Index Survey.
