Terms Drawn for IAR's 2014 Board of Directors

IAR Plans Trio of Habitat for Humanity Projects in 2014

IAR President Phil Chiles announced last week that IAR will undertake three Habitat construction projects in 2014 with builds planned in Murphysboro, Springfield and the Fox Valley area. 

Lower FHA Loan Limits for Some Counties in 2014

Beginning Jan. 1, 2014, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) will lower maximum loan limits, a change that will effect counties in the Chicago and Metro East areas. Find a list of county limits from FHA. NAR has joined with coalition partners to ask FHA to reconsider the lower limits. 

HUD Issues Final Rule on Qualified Mortgage

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has released its final rules on what constitutes a "qualified mortgage." The requirements go into effect Jan. 10, 2014, and include mortgages requiring periodic payments without risky features and terms not exceeding 30 years.Read HUD's release for more details

2014 Broker Renewal: If My License is In a "Holding Company" do I Still Need CE? 

By April 30, 2014, Illinois Broker licensees must have completed the CE requirements and applied to renew their license through IDFPR. IAR's Licensing & Training Center has created a Q&A and checklist to help you get ready. This week's question:

  • Q: If my license is in a "holding company" do I still need CE? A: Yes. Your "holding company" is your sponsoring broker so you hold an active sponsored real estate license. Thus, you are subject to CE requirements.
