Effort Continues to Change Federal Flood Policy 

REALTOR®-supported federal legislation has been introduced to delay potential flood insurance rate increases and the reclassification of some at-risk properties. NAR has details on the proposed legislation and IAR Housing Policy Advisor Sharon Gorrell writes about the issue and the work of several Illinois Congressmen in an IARbuzz blog post. IAR's leadership team met with top state officials in Chicago last week to discuss real estate in Illinois. They met with acting director of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Manuel Flores as well as Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn. 

Commitment to Homeownership Remains Strong

The lure of owning a home and the financial and lifestyle benefits it affords are strong, even for homeowners who are struggling. A recent Fannie Mae survey of delinquent buyers found that their views of homeownership are more favorable than a year ago.

Two Ways to Fast Track Your GRI Course I

IAR is offering two fast-track options to help you earn credit for Course I so you can move directly to Course II this December. Take the new IAR Proficiency Exam to earn full credit or take a course through the GRI Course I Equivalency Program. Courses II, III and Grad are being held Dec. 2-5 at the Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca. The deadline to register for the Chicagoland GRI courses is Nov. 22 and the last day to get a discount on hotel rooms is Friday.
