Condo sales up
As bleak as Chicago’s new-construction condominium market looks, there are a few rays of sunshine filtering through the gloom, real estate analysts say.
“With 406 net new-construction condo sales in the first two quarters, 2010 is still tracking to be a stronger year than 2009 when developers marketed a total of 572 units for the whole year,” said Gail Lissner, vice president of Appraisal Researc
Mortgage applications rise 2.7% as already-low rates sink
NEW YORK (AP) Mortgage applications rose 2.7% last week as more borrowers took advantage of the lowest rates in decades to reduce their monthly loan payments.
The Mortgage Bankers Association said Wednesday the increase was led by a 2.8% rise in refinance applications. The number of loans taken out to purchase a home rose 1.8%.
The numbers are adjusted for seasonal factors.
